Pharmaceutical Society, 1880 Silver Prize Medal awarded to John Hutchison. 70mm diameter, 178.80g, cased and designed by Wyon, inscribed ‘HAENDA RATIO VALETUDINIS’ (A consideration of health must be had) quote by Cicero, design features two figures on either side of an altar with a mortar and pestle above. A beautifully struck medal recognising achievements in botanical and pharmaceutical studies, reflecting Victorian scientific advancement in original fitted box.
